About the game

A little girl wakes up troubled in an unknown, cold and dark place. How did she get to that place, perhaps through some kind of sorcery? Or is it just a nightmare? Be that as it may, have no choice but to find a way out and survive the darkness and the dangers that lurk in this macabre place.

Why play it?

  • Top down survival
  • Retro-styled horror
  • 10 hand-crafted levels

Why not?

  • We made it a bit too hard

My experience

This game was developed in under a month for the HPS1 jam 2020. I wanted to try out unity's in build 2D lighting system for the first time, It ended up looking great! Obviously more so because of the amazing art by ismartal.

The game's core loop is about trying to aviod getting discovered by ghosts but if you do, you get endlessly chased and can get rid if them by hiding from them in beds/ cupboards/ chests. Another layer is added by trying to find fuel for your lamp, to keep it from going out.

The game was initially going to be a procedually generated game. I even finished implementing it, but it felt underwhelming compared to handcrafted levels. So we decided to stick with making 10 handcrafted levels. (though these levels ended up being way to difficult to complete.)
